Overview
MaiCellar is operated by Mai Software, based in Australia. If anything in this policy is unclear, email privacy@maisoftware.app.
Data we collect
- Account. Your email address and authentication tokens from Apple or GitHub sign in. We do not collect your name, phone number, or postal address.
- Cellar data. Wine names, vintages, regions, varietals, producers, quantities, purchase prices, estimated values, tasting notes, ratings, personal notes, drink windows, serving information, and status updates with their dates.
- Images. Photos you scan are sent to Anthropic for AI processing. Neither we nor Anthropic store these images beyond the immediate processing of your request.
- Usage. The number of AI scans you have used and the date of your last pairing suggestion.
- What we do not collect. No device identifiers, no advertising IDs, and no location data.
How we use it
We use your data to operate your wine cellar, process AI scanning and pairing requests, manage your subscription, send notifications you have opted into, respond to support enquiries, and improve the accuracy of our AI features.
We do not run advertising, build behavioural profiles, or sell any data to third parties.
Data sharing
We share data only with the providers we need to run the service:
- Supabase — database and authentication, with servers in Australia and the USA.
- Anthropic — AI processing for label scanning and food pairing. Your data is not used to train their models.
- RevenueCat — subscription management, with payments processed by Apple.
AI processing
MaiCellar's AI features are powered by Claude, developed by Anthropic. Photos and text you submit are sent securely over HTTPS. Anthropic does not retain images sent through the API, and does not use them for model training.
If you prefer not to use AI features, every field in MaiCellar can be entered manually.
Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is deleted within 30 days.
You can request a full export of your cellar at any time by emailing support@maisoftware.app.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or object to the processing of your personal data. Send requests to privacy@maisoftware.app and we will respond within 30 days.
Security
All data travels over HTTPS. Our database enforces Row Level Security so that each account can only read its own records. Authentication tokens are stored in the secure keychain on your device, and we never store your password.
Children
MaiCellar is intended for users aged 18 and over. If we discover an account belonging to someone under 18, we delete it.
Affiliate disclosure
MaiCellar participates in the Amazon Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn fees by linking to Amazon. Links in the Gift Shop section may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you in the app or by email. Continued use of MaiCellar after a change means you accept the updated policy.
